Pirate’s Paradise or How to Multiply Booty

A pirate needs booty. Lots and lots of booty. Here’s a quick peek at pirate mathematics.
Start with some homemade models. I made these from wood. I scored the grain and added trim pieces to form a couple crates and a couple barrels.

I sealed these with a couple light coats of gloss sealant to prevent the mold silicon from flowing into the pores of the wood. I poured a mold using the Smooth-On Pourable Kit. 24 hours later I removed the originals and started to pour.

Now there’s quite a bit more booty but let’s face it, we’re pirates and we want more. So I started stacking. Using Greenstuff like mortar, I stacked and puttied the pieces together.

I built a number of stacks. Four actually. Care must be paid to any voids, gaps, and spaces. These areas need to be filled to maximize mold life. Any air bubbles in the original castings should be filled too.

It’s time to break out the molding kit again. Once again seal the originals before pouring the mold. Pour the mold and like magic, 24 hour later, you have this…

Ready to cast, the mold must sadly wait until tomorrow.
